Nathan started out showing Whippets, Afghans and Salukis for Molly Rule-Steele of Taejaan fame, getting most of his knowledge of the Anatomy, Structure and Line Breeding from her. Nathan brought home a Whippet puppy as a pet, which renewed our love of dogs. Nathan's sisters boyfriend at the time had Staffordshire Bull Terriers, which we were at time not all that particular about. We were asked or should say begged to look after one for a few months, his name is Piranha which we shorted to Rana hence our prefix Jenrana. The family fell in love with this not so great a specimen of a Stafford and decided as Nathan was into showing dogs that we would purchase a Show Stafford. We purchased a magazine, which had a feature on Staffords and decided after looking at an advert to contact Robert and Leslie Flett of Rapidfire Staffords. As luck would have it they had a litter only days before, they sent us a video of the puppies when they were three weeks old and from that we choose “Sabre” Rapidfire Bladerunner. Of course it was pure luck that we ended up with one of the top-winning bitches in Australia, because with experience we most certainly would not pick a puppy from a video at only three weeks of age. And so began our love affair with Staffordshire Bull Terriers. At our first show we did not do very well, getting third in our class out of four under judge Sue Brown. Our second show was the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of Victoria Specialty Show. We asked several breeders who had been in Staffords for a long time what they thought of Sabre, and it was suggested that we should send her back to the breeder, but we persisted and after those first two shows “Sabre” never really looked back and neither have we. With “Sabres” progeny “Trickey “Ch Jenrana Black Mail, “Ebony “Ch. Jenrana Ebony Anivory and “Jazz” Ch. Jenrana All that Jazz proving to be outstanding in the Show ring with her two other daughters in the show ring and very near to their titles.
